Sharpley and Stone (2009, p.115) explain that 'the interpretation of dark sites should, as far as possible, present an authentic narrative that reflects it's emotive content'. This, in effect, means that the management team within the museum site need to ensure that visitor's pass through a story of exhibitions. Some of the exhibitions within the museum showcase authentic ruins and remains from the day as can be seen on the right of this page. These need to be maintained and preserved as time goes on in order for the museum to not lose it's authentic value as a dark tourism attraction. This being it's major selling point for consumption. This present day the authenticity surrounding the 9/11 memorial and museum is not a worrying factor. However, as time goes on, like all things in life, they become less authentic and original. With this in mind, one clearly see's the future and how this will be managed accordingly, in relation to ensuring the experience is authentic for the consumer, as being a management implication at the site. From first-hand experience it should be brought to the reader's attention that controllable factors are in place. An example being, not allowing visitor's to touch any of the exhibits.
