Safety & Security at the Site

A major concern for the management at the 9/11 site is the safety and security of all workers and visitors. With the site previously being a political target of terrorism, the site's security and management teams have to take this into account on a day-to-day basis.

With 'Ground Zero' becoming one of the most visited attractions in North America the high number of visitors make it a major target to future potential attacks. Additionally, political and religious beliefs clash due to the event's that occurred in this exact location. Which is something management at the site have to take into consideration.

Upon entering the museum all visitors must progress through airport-like security screening. Additionally, as can be seen in the photo below, a high number of security personnel patrol the site regularly. These consist of sniffer dogs, armed police and a military presence.

Furthermore, health & safety is a major concern amongst all tourist attractions worldwide. Additional factors the management have to take into consideration at the 9/11 site is New York's often extreme weather conditions. During high-winds and icy conditions the memorial fountains are switched off and parts of the memorial are closed respectively.

Without going into to much detail on the subject, it should also be noted that due to people's opinions on the events that unfolded on 9/11 being somewhat controversial. The 9/11 memorial site is often used as an area of protesting, this is something which the management have to deal with and ensure that this sacred place is left unharmed.
